Earlier today I decided that before I start studying like mad I’d finally watch Blue Valentine. I had very, very high expectations, and let’s face it - Ryan Gosling is a piece.
Well, let’s just say I was very underwhelmed (*gasp!* I know a lot of people love it). To me it was just like, the anti-Notebook pretty much.
It had it’s moments (I loved the scene where Dean decorates the old man’s room in the nursing home, teared up a lil), but I’m not going to lie here - I didn’t even make it to the end before just getting bored and shutting it off.
I don’t know… it was very well-acted, but it was just so, so sad. All I got from it (after reading the ending online) was that sometimes you fall into this perfect love and shit happens and it just doesn’t work out. Well, sweet. Not that every movie has to have a storybook ending, but Blue Valentine was just SO dismal.
All in all, wasn’t my cup of tea. Thought it was going to be totally different/better than it was. Still love Ryan Gosling.
